I was born in April 1967, in M’Balmayo, Cameroun. I studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, at the École Supérieure d'Arts in Grenoble, France and at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Aware of the double dilemma of being on the one hand unable to protect Africa’s classical and contemporary artistic heritage, and yet keen to undertake an ambitious cultural project, I decided to use most of the money I have I earned through my work as an artist to set up "Bandjoun Station", a project close to my heart in terms of concept, vision, production and realisation.

We Africans do not have the ‘luxury’ of surrender, of whining and waiting, in spite of the enormous number of obstacles encountered by Africa and her diaspora. It is essential that we find OUR OWN solutions in all areas, whether agriculture, healthcare, economy, culture, politics, education or sport. In order to do that our African countries must set up a large number of vibrant and innovative structures in order to stimulate creativity and the desire for culture, as well as to develop the practical side and bring projects to fruition.

Bandjoun Station is situated on the high plateaux of Western Cameroon, 3 km from the town of Bafoussam, 300 km from Douala and Yaoundé. Bandjoun Station is first and foremost a private house where artists, choreographers, photographers, writers, academics, film makers, doctors, curators, art critics, actors, anthropologists, scientists will be made welcome. Some will be invited to participate in artistic residencies on-site, at Bandjoun Station House.

All our guests will be able to work on their own projects, appropriate to the human and natural context of the site, and to propose activities and events, whether in the local region, further afield in Cameroon, or abroad.

Je suis né en 1967, au Cameroun. J'ai fait mes études à l’École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts d’Abidjan en Côte d'Ivoire, à l'École Supérieure d'Arts de Grenoble puis à la Kunstakademie de Düsseldorf, en Allemagne.

Constatant la double impasse de ne pouvoir sauvegarder le patrimoine artistique classique et contemporain sur le continent africain d'une part, et d'y établir des projets culturels ambitieux d'autre part, j'ai décidé de consacrer l'essentiel de mes moyens -gagnés sur le terrain de la création artistique- à l'édification et à la création de "Bandjoun Station", un projet entièrement personnel (concept, construction, production et réalisation).

Car, au regard des multiples obstacles que rencontre l'Afrique et sa Diaspora, nous Africains ne pouvons nous offrir 'le luxe' de capituler, de geindre et d'attendre. Il est primordial que nous imaginions NOUS–MÊMES nos solutions dans tous les domaines (agricole, sanitaire, économique, social, culturel, politique, éducatif, sportif...). Ainsi, nos pays africains doivent se doter d’un grand nombre de structures vivantes et innovantes, afin de stimuler la création, l’envie de culture, pour en développer les pratiques et les faire fructifier.

"Bandjoun Station" est située sur les hauts plateaux de l’ouest du Cameroun, à 3 km de la ville de Bafoussam, à 300 km de Douala et Yaoundé. "Bandjoun Station" est d'abord une résidence privée où je souhaite recevoir des plasticiens, chorégraphes, photographes, écrivains, chercheurs, cinéastes, médecins, curateurs ou critiques d’art, comédiens, ethnologues, scientifiques... Certains pourront loger en résidence de création/production, sur les lieux mêmes, à "Bandjoun Station House".

Tous nos invités pourront y développer leurs projets, en adéquation avec le site, son environnement humain et naturel, et proposer des interactions et des événements au plan local, national ou international.
